VROOM VROOMgirl in the curious city

I'm in the market for a new car. For the first time in my life, I may actually own (sort of) a NEW car!!! I have to aggressively start looking bc I need to select and lease one in the next week or two. Since I'm planning to lease, I can look toward the impractical - hatchback! (As opposed to a boring sedan.)

Currently, I am considering:
A. Prius C
B. Kia Forte
C. Hyundai Veloster
D. Hyunda Accent
E. Mazda 2

My top criteria are:
1. Priced under $200 per month
2. Safety
3. Fuel economy
4. Looks (no ugly car like the Kia Soul)
5. Not American (I'm sorry, but my experience with American cars has been dismal!)

There are actually a few good options out there. I was really leaning toward the Prius C (one or two), but I saw a hateful review online saying it has no power. Now, I'm confused, but I'll be going test driving this Sunday with BDF who will help guide me. I am horribly indecisive as soon as a car salesman starts to swindle me. So, I will do my best to keep it together. Wish me luck!
