I'd like to introduce you to my new favorite local hangout Shatto 39 Lanes. There is nothing new about it, actually it's a pretty old-school bowling alley. I drove by it everyday and lived within walking distance for the last 4 years but never stepped foot in the establishment. Maybe it was because of the hideous beige stucco exterior. But oddly enough, now that I am no longer walking distance to it, I go there.
I love everything about Shatto 39, even it's kitschy architecture now (it adds character!). The more practical reasons why I love it is because it has a parking lot and it's free! That is unheard of in ultra crowded Koreatown. As for atmosphere, Shatto 39 is old-school-cool, low-key, no-fuss, laid-back, and awe-some. They also have billiards, a coffee shop, and a dive bar serving cocktails at $5 a pop. Yes it's true, cocktails that don't cost the price of your first born child do exist in this city. That alone should have you up and clapping on over there.
Love that place! And I love their uneven lanes bc I can blame my low scores on them
